I was doing a lot of fandom art around this time, but I did have an interest in making my own OCs. I had a lot of fan characters for Disgaea / Homestuck / Pokemon, as well as 'fanon' characters like that 2P fella from Hetalia. (Maybe one day when I don't find my old fanon characters too cringely I'll talk about them more.)
I was still pulling my OCs out from their fantroll-isms. I wanted to world-build my concept of 'sea dwellers.' I wanted to explore making a sci-fi fantasy universe.
Their comic didn't get too far, but they're fun to draw once in a while.
I went through a lot of proto-designs for Bryce and Lyka, but this iteration of them is soooo cute actually?! Bryce has a pixie cut and cross earrings? Lyka has dyed blue hair instead of pink? I'm obsessed. Technically an "Earth/Human" AU.
I remember wanting to learn how to draw Filipino formal wear. I knew a lot about other cultures, but didn't know much about my own. I drew Lyka in a Baro't Saya and Bryce in a Barong Tagalog.
Techically some of the first "World of Oanet" art I made. However, this has some ties to my old 2P Cardverse Hetalia ask blog. (Gosh what a mouthful.)
It's been a few years since I started working on my OC world, and only now (01.2026) am I able to look on some of this early art with a tiny bit of fondness.
Full art here.
There was a Jane/Roxy tumblr community event. It might have been the last big Homestuck fandom event I joined? I miss drawing for fandoms, but as the years went by drawing fandom art didn't bring me as much joy.
It sucked that the stuff I created wasn't wholly mine. I had a lot of love for these characters, but I was desperately craving something more.
I was so happy when Homestuck gave Rose and Kanaya a wedding. I feel like it's always been a 'fandom' thing to be obsessed with LGBTA+ characters' wedding, so it felt incredibly validating to be given something like this.
I love RoseMary, I love RoseKan! I was so gutted when the news broke out about Homestuck 2, but in retrospect, I think I'm okay with that. It's a different team. It's a different vision.
At least we had this moment. We had their wedding, and for me that's where the story ends.
Back in the day, Homestuck was partnered with merch company 'WeLoveFine.' There was a contest for new t-shirt designs and this was a draft that I never finished. There's a lot of neat cat-characters in Homestuck and I thought it would have been a cute shirt idea? I included Tavrossprite because he's allergic to cats.
I had rewatched My Life as Teenage Robot in it's entirety back in 2017. The show holds up! Jenny feels very queer-coded and the show's art style is very unique.
